More than a vacation home, Zeppelin's
is an adventure in fascinating interior design. The personal
contributions of many artisans and craftsmen, along with a major
collection of Western architectural antiques - are casually combined
to create a home of infinite variety.
Frontier antiques, rare stained glass
pieces, many hundreds of books, unexpected
tile creations and paintings on the walls, hand carved woodwork and other
original art continually delight the senses and give the home a transcendent
ambiance of playful creative energy.
Disarmingly casual, very warm and human:
and absolutely memorable, Zeppelin's cannot be judged in the context
of the other homes in Breckenridge:
a photo portfolio is available here to help convey its unique character.
About 4000 square feet in size, the
home has 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. Located about 1.2 miles from Breckenridge's
Peak Eight base area, the home is sited for privacy on several forested
acres adjacent to National Forest lands. A Nordic ski trail crosses
the property, as does a small mountain stream. An on-site caretaker
is available in the evening to help answer questions and handle maintenance.
HOT TUB ROOM. Dual stained
glass doors from an early Denver saloon open onto a multitiered room with
oiled redwood paneling, hand decorated beams, skylights and patio doors
opening onto a deck. The room includes a shower with marble wainscoting
and elegant brass fixtures from a turn-of-the-century Montana ranch.
The hot tub can accommodate 8 persons.
LIVINGROOM. Architectural
highlight of the livingroom include cedar paneled walls and ceiling; several
elegant stained glass pieces; pine plank flooring; and a carved stone fireplace
mantle from the mansion of an early Denver newspaper publisher. Additionally,
there are sectional couches facing the hearth; seating pillows and a compact
FM/record player/cassette stereo.
REC ROOM. Amenities in the
cedar paneled rec room include a pool table; lounge seating before a wood
stove; 25" TV and VCR. Cable TV service.
ATRIUM. The window-walled
atrium is furnished with a game table, complete with card, poker chips
and an assortment of board games.
KITCHEN & DINING. As with
most rooms in the home, antiques and artwork extend into the kitchen area.
Amenities include a South Bend commercial gas range with 6 burners, dual
ovens and a large cast iron griddle; separate refrigerator and freezer;
butcherblock oak countertops; tiled breakfast bar with 4 stools; a serving
cart and numerous cookbooks. The primitive pine planked dining table
